First, know what is normal

Two comparisons matter. First, against itself over time: if this month is well down on the same month last year, with similar weather, something has changed. Second, against the estimate your installer gave you when the system went in. If the system is running consistently 15 to 20 percent or more below what was projected, that gap is worth investigating rather than shrugging off. The usual culprits, in order

An inverter fault. You do not need to babysit the system. Glance at the app once a month and note the trend. If a month comes in well below where it should be, start with the cheap checks: is the glass dirty, and is anything new shading the roof? One firm warning. Do not go climbing onto the roof to inspect panels yourself, and do not start poking at the DC wiring or connectors.
